Working with a systemic coach

You come in for training. And yet that's not always where it starts. Sometimes you notice your body is tired while your head keeps racing. Or your motivation disappears the moment you slow down. Then there is often more going on than muscles, nutrition or sleep. That's why at De Werf we don't only work physically, but also systemically - together with a coach who looks at the bigger connections. Because behaviour comes from somewhere.

What is systemic coaching?

Systemic coaching is about the invisible threads that influence our behaviour. Family, work, expectations, patterns - they all move with us, often without us noticing. A systemic coach helps make those connections visible. Not with analyses or diagnoses, but with space, questions and observation.
In a session, seemingly small things - such as fatigue during a particular exercise, or resistance to a schedule - can suddenly take on meaning. Not to make things complicated, but to clarify: what is really going on?

Why this works in a training context

In our studio it is all about progress. Not faster, leaner or heavier - but structural. And structure sometimes asks for something other than discipline: insight. By working with a systemic coach we can link physical signals to underlying themes. That makes the guidance deeper and more sustainable. No symptom management, but direction.
We see it, for example, with clients who:

  • keep losing motivation without a clear reason
  • are always 'on', but recover poorly
  • struggle to make choices or set boundaries
  • commit physically, but get stuck mentally
  • have recurring complaints without a medical cause

Systemic work helps you reflect. You learn to look and listen more closely to what your body is telling you.

What you can expect

Working with a systemic coach is not a standard part of every programme. We only use it when we feel it fits - for a specific question, a blockage, or as a deepening of the process. Sometimes a single session is already clarifying. Sometimes systemic guidance runs briefly parallel to the physical programme. And sometimes it is not needed at all.
Good to know: it is not therapy. It is not a talking circle. And it is certainly not an obligation. It is an option - for anyone who feels: I want to look beyond my training schedule.

No, it is optional. We only use it when it is relevant to your programme and you are open to it yourself.
